  • Ferrari 488 gearbox oil change, how often do owners really do it?

I have a simple question about looking after my car, and I hope some owners can share what they do. I bought a 2017 Ferrari 488 GTB about eight months ago. It is the first Ferrari I have ever owned, and I am still learning how to take care of it. The car drives great right now. The gears change smooth and fast, and I do not hear any strange noise. But the man who sold it to me never gave me any paper about the gearbox oil, so I have no idea when it was last changed. My friend has a 458 and he told me he changes his gearbox oil every two years, even when nothing is wrong. My cousin says that is a waste of money and that I should wait until the car shows a problem. I could not decide who was right, so one night I read about it online. I opened a page about Ferrari cars on a Sharjah website to learn how the gearbox, the oil and the clutches work together. It said that old oil can wear the clutches faster, and that a small service now costs much less than a big repair later. That made sense to me. Then a coworker told me to look for a Premium Ferrari transmission service in Industrial Area 10 and ask for a paper list of what they did, like the oil type and the amount. He said a good place will also scan the car and show the clutch numbers. I liked that idea because I want to keep a small record in the glove box. So I have some questions. How often should the gearbox oil be changed on a Ferrari like this, by time or by distance? Is it risky to change the oil on a car that has no service history, or is that just a myth? What should a basic transmission service include, only the oil, or also a scan and a software check? And about how long does it take, and what is a fair price? If you keep a routine for your Ferrari, please tell me what you do and how it has worked for you. Thanks a lot.
